Now let’s discuss the different types of AI.So, AI is divided into three different evolutionary stages, or you can say that there are three stages of artificial intelligence. Of course, we have artificial narrow intelligence followed by artificial general intelligence, and that is followed by artificial superintelligence. Artificial narrow intelligence, which is also known as weak AI, it involves applying artificial intelligence only to specific tasks. So, many currently existing systems that claim to use artificial intelligence are actually operating as weak AI focused on a narrowly defined specific problem Let me give you an example of artificial narrow intelligence. Alexa is a very good example of weak AI. It operates within an unlimited pre-defined range of functions. There’s no genuine intelligence or there is no self-awareness, despite being a sophisticated example of weak AI. The Google search engine, Sophia the humanoid, self-driving cars, and even the famous AlphaGo fall under the category of weak AI. So guys, right now we’re at the stage of artificial narrow intelligence or weak AI.
We actually haven’t reached artificial general intelligence or artificial superintelligence, but let’s look at what exactly it would be like if we reach artificial general intelligence. Now artificial general intelligence which is also known as strong AI, it involves machines that possess the ability to perform any intellectual task that a human being can. Now, this is actually something that a lot of people don’t realize. Machines don’t possess human-like abilities. They have a very strong processing unit that can perform high-level computations, but they’re not yet capable of doing the simple and the most reasonable things that a human being can. If you tell a machine to process a million documents, it’ll probably do that in a matter of seconds, or a minute, or even minutes.
But if you ask a machine to walk up to your living room and switch on the TV, a machine will take forever to learn that, because machines don’t have a reasonable way of thinking. They have a very strong processing unit, but they’re not yet capable of thinking and reasoning like a human beings. So that’s exactly why we’re still stuck on artificial narrow intelligence. So far we haven’t developed any machine that can fully be called strong AI, even though there are examples of AlphaGo Zero which defeated AlphaGo in the game of Go. AlphaGo Zero basically learned in a span of four months. It learned on its own without any human intervention, But even then, it was not classified as a fully strong artificial intelligence, because it cannot reason like a human being. Moving onto artificial superintelligence. Now, this is a term referring to the time when the capabilities of a computer will surpass that of a human being. In all actuality, it’ll take a while for us to achieve artificial superintelligence. Presently, it’s seen as a hypothetical situation as depicted in movies and any science fiction books wherein machines have taken over the world, movies like Terminator, and all of that depict artificial superintelligence. These don’t exist yet, which we should be thankful for, but there are a lot of people who speculate that artificial superintelligence will take over the world by the year. So, guys, these were the different types or different stages of artificial intelligence. To summarize everything, as I said before, narrow intelligence is the only thing that exists for now. We have only weak AI or weak artificial intelligence. All the major AI technologies that you see are artificial narrow intelligence. We don’t have any machines which are capable of thinking like human beings or reasoning like a human being. Now let’s move on and discuss the different programming languages for AI.

what are the four types of ai? you might be familiar with some of the subsets of artificial intelligence such as machine learning natural language processing and so on but many don’t know that you can distinguish four distinctive types of artificial intelligence these are reactive limited memory theory of mind and self-aware artificial intelligence so what i want to do is look at some of these explore how they differ and what they have to offer so let’s start with reactive ai the most basic form is called reactive ai because it reacts to existing conditions as its name suggests so deep blue for example a super computer created by ibm in the that ultimately competed and won a chess match against reigning world champion gary kasparov is a really good example of reactive ai so reactive ai functions the way it was programmed with a predictable outcome based on input it receives so these reactive machines will respond to identical situation in exactly the same way every time so reactive ais are unable to learn or conceive of the past or future so things like spam filters and netflix recommendation engines are really good examples of reactive ai the next and most sophisticated type is called limited memory ai and this is characterized by the ability to absorb learning data and improve over time based on experience similar to the way the neurons in a human brain connect this is the ai that is widely used today in deep learning tools with limited memory ai the ai environment is built so that models are automatically trained and updated based on the model behavior limited memory ai can complete complex classification tasks and uses historical data to make predictions self-driving cars use limited memory ai because the algorithms that power these vehicles use training data to understand how to operate but can also interpret data it observes to read its environment and adjust when necessary theory of mind ai when machines acquire decision-making capabilities equal to humans we will have achieved theory of mind ai this is the next frontier for ai an important aspect of this ai is that machines would have the capability to understand and remember emotions and adjust behavior based on those emotions just as humans can although theory of mind ai has not been fully achieved yet the robots kiss meat and that was introduced in and sophia in showed some aspects of this type of ai kiss meat for example recognized emotions and could replicate them through its facial features such as eyes eyebrows lips and ears sofia a humanoid robot along with her human-like likeness was also able to see emotions and respond appropriately researchers in artificial emotional intelligence are already making headway but there is much work to do before ai can be fully emotionally intelligent
